Social Impacts of Not Having Airbags.
If airbags were not present in the event of an accident, there would be many social impacts that would negatively affect the driver, any passengers, people who have some sort of connection to the occupants of the car, and the way that the crash would change the way these people live their lives.
Without airbags, in the incident of a car crash, both the driver and the passengers may be severely injured. Airbags are mainly there to prevent traumatic injury to the brain. Impact to the head is common in car crashes, but without airbags in some circumstances, death and serious brain damage would be almost certain. Brain damage can severely effect the way someone lives their life. It can effect the quality of life that someone has, and the quality of life that the people around them have. Brain Damage has the ability to take away someones independence, and can make them 100% dependant on their family and friends to do things. This also prevents family and friends from doing regular day to day activities, in order the aid the victim. The death of someone in a car accident also has an emotional impact on the people that are close the victim. It depends on the circumstances, but airbags can prevent all of this from happening.
It is because of airbags that people who have been involved in car crashes can live their lives in the best way they possibly can, and the people that they are close to can live the life the way they want to. It is unfortunate that airbags are not a guaranteed safety, and this is the sheer reality for many people around the world today, as demonstrated in the image below by the Utah driving safety organisation; campaign.

Economic Impacts of Not Having Airbags.
Economical issues would be a massive issue for victims of a car crash if airbags were not implemented. These impacts would include the cost of medical and rehabilitation, the loss of money whilst being absent from work due to injury, and the cost of an ambulance attending the scene of the accident.
It is clear that without airbags, the severity of injuries in the event of a car crash would be amplified, and this leads onto how the cost of medical and rehabilitation after the crash would impact the lives of the occupants of the car/cars involved. Airbags may potentially prevent serious injury and there may not even need to be any medical costs at all. This would be a totally different case if there were no airbags at all. These sorts of costs would skyrocket, for both passengers and the driver. Without airbags, you may sustain some sort of injury that could possibly put you out of work for a while, this can financially impact you in a negative way, and it may be hard to pay for basic necessities. Even though you may not provide consent for an ambulance to attend the scene of your accident, the cost of this ambulance may fall on you at a later stage. Some health insurance providers do pay for ambulances in certain situations, but it really depends on the injury sustained. This is something that you do not want to face while or after you have recovered from an injury.
Airbags are important in the event of a car crash so that you are not faced with financially devastating situations.
